Off the Top of My Head

We got some bad news, but it wasn’t from the echocardiogram. That was completely fine. There was also a brain scan taken as just a precautionary measure since Erica has been feeling headaches. This revealed several small lesions on her brain. She’s going now to consult with the doctors on a plan for hippocampus-sparing whole-brain radiation. It gets really scary when it gets to the brain, but it sounds like this treatment may be very successful and will keep her from losing any kind of cognitive function. We’ll find out. Meanwhile, work has plunged, too. But, again, that’s for the business section…

As I write this, our puppies are wrestling with each other right next to me as they often do. They have no idea what our troubles are. They just want food and playtime. No matter how bad things get, it’s always a short respite to care for them.

The Business Section

I’ve been officially dropped by the client I spoke about last week. I’m to finish off this month and after that, I’m up the creek unless someone else hires me. To whit, I do have more interviews this week and I’m supposed to hear about a particular job that I’m looking forward to today. I don’t know how to feel, though. I’ve been here before. Interviews lined up, but none hiring. I may have to hop back into the Lyft game again, which I really don’t want to do because it’s torture on my car. I’ve been thinking about it, and I think what I’m really looking for is a position where I’m back as part of a team. I was flourishing when I worked in a team for Cisco. I loved working at GreenBar even though it was just a two-person team. All the way back when I was assistant manager at a movie theater; that was a team, and although it paid crap, it was fun. I think the lonely freelance life has just become burdensome to me.

So that’s where I stand in business. I’m looking for a position where I’m back as part of a team. I still have two clients that I’m not going to let go of, but I can work with them on downtime. If you know of any company that will hire me, please let me know.

I once spent a whole night playing a Star Trek game on an old Macintosh in my dad's music studio. Now I tweet for a living. https://solo.to/lordsteve
